It all began in my childhood, fascinated by oceans and marine creatures. Documentaries, books, and trips along the coast sparked my curiosity and inspired me to understand and explore this mysterious world.
During my biology bachelor’s degree at the University of Lille, this curiosity turned into a concrete plan: every biology class, lab practical, and field trip has strengthened my desire to learn and commit to marine biology.
This page tells the story of these first steps in academia, my discoveries, and the choices that have shaped my path in marine biology, while preparing me for a master’s degree and a future career dedicated to the ocean.
My Academic Path - Biology Bachelor
During my biology bachelor’s degree, I took a range of courses that allowed me to build solid knowledge and practical skills in marine and general biology. Key subjects included ecophysiology, biostatistics, genetics, the origin and evolution of biodiversity, and scientific English.
I also explored marine fauna and flora, particularly during the Wimereux week, which included field trips and supervised practical work organized by the faculty. This week allowed me to directly observe marine life and apply the scientific methods learned in class.
In addition, I took courses in continental fauna and flora, and urban ecology, where I discovered QGIS and QField, gaining experience with mapping and spatial analysis tools.
Practical sessions were central to my training. I carried out dissections, such as the small-spotted dogfish, which allowed me to understand the morphology and anatomy of marine species. These experiences gave me the opportunity to handle scientific equipment, apply theoretical knowledge from courses, and develop technical laboratory skills.
As part of the ecotoxicology course, I participated in a project on bottlenose dolphins, which involved studying scientific articles on their contamination by PCBs. This project allowed me to gain an analytical approach, understand the impact of chemical pollution on cetaceans, and develop skills in literature research and scientific synthesis.
This combination of theoretical courses, practical sessions, supervised projects, and field trips has formed the foundation of my academic path and prepared me to pursue a master’s degree in marine biology.
